On the morning on October 3rd, who would have thought that the two leading Hadoop distribution companies were in the midst of finalizing one of the most shocking merges not just in the Big Data field but in the IT field.
Embracing the mantra of “the enemy of my enemy is my friend” Cloudera and Hortonworks shook the Hadoop community with their intention to merge in a deal that is worth $5.2B!
Needless to say this will impact the Hadoop and Big Data community greatly but just how much? Thomas Henson and Brett Roberts talk about this out of left field merger and make some predictions for the future of the combined company, Hadoop and Big Data.
